Junior Space Consultant

Role

ALSO Space is looking for a Junior Space Consultant with a passion for the space sector to contribute to communication and outreach projects in the field of Earth Observation (EO).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and implementing communication strategies to foster outreach and user engagement. 

  • Collaborate with team members to create compelling narratives which simplify complex scientific data for diverse audiences. 

  • Organise and coordinate events and training sessions to promote stakeholder engagement and awareness. 

  • Contribute to project management by documenting processes and maintaining records of outreach activities. 

  • Contribute to studies on user requirements gathering and participate in strategic planning initiatives. 

  • Draft and edit articles, social media posts, and press releases. 

Qualifications

  • Degree related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Communication Science, Space, or a related field 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; knowledge of other European languages (especially Spanish or French) would be a differentiator 

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly X (Twitter) and LinkedIn 

  • >1 year of experience in a similar role 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, coupled with an eagerness to develop both her/its qualitative and quantitative analytical abilities 

  • A quick learner, adaptable, organised and detail-oriented, able to deliver on time and to maintain high quality standards 

  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a decentralised team 

  • Ability to take occasional international day trips 

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant software tools

OUR STRUCTURE

Based in the heart of Brussels, Belgium, ALSO Space, was created in June 2022 by Annamaria Luongo and Stéphane Ourevitch. We employ 19 consultants, not only including experts specialised in Earth Observation, GIS, Geo Data Visualisation, Emergency Management, Environmental Protection, but also in communication, user uptake, and community management. Three of our staff members are based in Central America. 

Despite its recent creation, our company is showing sustained growth, and seeking new talent to support recently acquired international assignments. 

The founders of ALSO Space have close to 30 years of combined experience in communication and community building with an extensive background in the Copernicus ecosystem. Both have a well-established track record of successfully delivering on high profile projects and nurturing community expansion for clients such as the European Commission, ESA, EUMETSAT, and major players in the Earth Observation industry.

ALSO Space's strength stems from our team’s expertise in Earth Observation, remote sensing, GIS, computer science, physics, data and environmental sciences, ecology, volcanology, and climatology. Additionally, our consultants bring a wealth of functional skills in areas such as communication, social media management, event management, data visualisation, user engagement and support, and community management. This combination makes ALSO Space unique, and uniquely equipped to manage both the technical and community engagement aspects of projects.
