As part of our RF team, you will work on the development of innovative communication techniques for space-to-ground communications . Here's a breakdown of the tasks you could be involved in:
Simulation: Contribute to the development of a software simulator to recreate a typical low-earth orbit satellite scenario. It will include simulation of propagation effects, RF front-ends, space and ground antennas and their effects on a transmitted RF signal.
Software Defined Radio: develop software modules for signal demodulation such as PLL/DLL, time-synchronisation, Phase/Frequency compensation.
Custom Signal Processing: Implement custom signal processing algorithms to analyze and enhance the signal received on-ground by several antennas, employing combination techniques and beamforming theory.
System evaluation: Benchmark the identified solutions by evaluating the benefit and complexity of each technique also with respect to hardware implications.
Test-bed Solutions: Contribute to the definition of field testing test setup to validate the simulation results.
Scripting Language Skills: Ability to write scripts in languages such as Python or MATLAB, helping to automate tasks and analyze data efficiently.
Radio Electronics: Basic understanding of RF electronic components (e.g., frequency converters, filters, amplifiers) used in communication systems.
GNU Radio Expertise: Experience in GNU radio processing chain development, including the creation of custom Out-of-Tree (OOT) blocks.
SDR Knowledge: Knowledge of SDR technology is a plus, especially in the context of building and testing communication systems.
Test Equipment: Hands-on experience with measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
Skynopy is a Paris-based start-up connecting satellites in orbit through its network of ground antennas located all around the globe. Founded in September 2023 by two former Loft Orbital (space company in the Next40) directors, Skynopy has now formed a team of a dozen people able to operate a unique connectivity service for satellite operators through a worldwide network of ground stations (antennas) and with an end-to-end connectivity kit approach.
Skynopy is at the forefront of the rapidly expanding space industry, with an ever-growing number of satellites deployed into orbit. With a successful first fundraising round of €3.1M, the company is now developing a cutting-edge software platform that enables seamless communication between its customers and their satellites. As part of the dynamic Low Earth Orbit (LEO) ecosystem, which includes earth observation satellites, telecommunications providers, and in-orbit services, Skynopy is paving the way for the next generation of space communication technologies.
As an intern, you will participate in developing innovative transmission techniques and designing next-generation Ka-band infrastructure. Your contributions will directly impact the evolution of space communication solutions, helping to shape the future of satellite connectivity and pave the way for the next era of space-based infrastructure.

Skynopy is a Paris-based startup founded in October 2023 by Pierre Bertrand and Antonin Hirsch, both former directors at Loft Orbital. The company specializes in providing end-to-end connectivity solutions for satellite operators, particularly those with satellites in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). Their mission is to simplify satellite communication, making it as seamless as using a mobile phone.
To achieve this, Skynopy offers an "as-a-service" model that allows operators to send commands and receive data through a hybrid network of ground antennas. This approach enables operators to focus on their missions without the need to manage complex connectivity infrastructure.
