Policy Officer Position

EARSC is looking for a Policy Officer to support the work of the Association’s policy team and particularly to maintain the knowledge of, and contribute to, current legislative actions, who will also interact with the Earth observation (EO) industry as well as European and international stakeholders. Based in Brussels, the successful candidate will work on EARSC Secretariat activities and ESA/EC-funded projects.
There are significant possibilities to shape the job to suit the skills of the person recruited.
Under the supervision of the EARSC Policy and Institutional Relations Officer:
· Follow the various policies and activities of the European institutions which impact the EO services industry.
· Conduct policy analysis and provide papers which set out the impact on the Earth observation sector and recommend actions to take.
· Maintain a dialogue with key stakeholders in the EC, EP, Council and the relevant agencies regarding legislative actions.
· Organise workshops, meetings, and webinars with the objective of informing and gathering views of relevant stakeholders.
· Support policy dimensions of ESA and EC funded projects.
· Represent EARSC at meetings and international events.
Your Profile:
· At least 1-3 years of experience in policy work, preferably in the space sector.
· Experience conducting policy research and drafting position papers.
· Very good knowledge of the European and/or international institutions.
· Knowledge of the EO sector and the policy context in which it operates
In addition, the following would be an advantage:
· Knowledge of the use of Excel for analytical purposes.
· Knowledge of European climate policy,
· Evidence of creative thinking and innovation; taking initiative.
· Fluency in other European languages.

· A 12-month employee contract under Belgian law, with the possibility for contract extension following the initial 12-month period.
