Legal and Procurement Traineeship

€1,500 monthly

Role

The trainee will be expected to carry out under supervision the following duties:

  • Assist the department in its daily activities, including participating in internal and/or external meetings;
  • Support contract management, procurement and grants activities, such as drafting and revising tender specifications, contracts and contract amendments;
  • Support the tenders/grant proposals evaluation;
  • Provide assistance on various files and on legal requests handled by the department;
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders on legal/procurement/grants/contract management questions;
  • Research and analyse law sources, such as EU regulations, legislations, legal articles, treaties;
  • Report on new case-law of EU courts and keep the relevant database updated;
  • Support in keeping the department databases up-to-date;
  • Assist in the negotiation or amendment of contractual terms and conditions;
  • Provide administrative support (e.g. archiving, data entry and processing);
  • Contribute to internal reporting tasks.

Qualifications

Eligibility Criteria

The traineeship is open to applicants who have not previously undertaken a regular (paid) traineeship at EUSPA and who meet the following requirements:

  1. Have a nationality of any Member State of the European Union, Iceland or Norway;
  2. A recognised higher education degree (university education or equivalent), evidencing completion of a full cycle of study, or in the case of candidates who are at the end of their studies, an official certification confirming that students are currently in their final year of academic studies;
  3. Have interest or knowledge about one or more areas of work of the Agency obtained during their studies/research projects/traineeships or through previous professional experience;
  4. Possess a thorough knowledge of one official language of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union; one of these languages must be the working language of the Agency (English);
  5. Have a clean criminal record.

Selection Criteria

The applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

  1. Initial experience in EU public procurement or in a law firm or a legal department dealing with complex technological matters would be an asset;
  2. Good knowledge of IT applications (Word, Excel, PPT and any other is an asset);
  3. Flexibility and adaptability;
  4. Prioritising and organising;
  5. Analytical thinking and problem-solving;
  6. Effective communication;
  7. Transversal collaboration and working in teams;
  8. Excellent command of both written and spoken English;
  9. Motivation for the post.

The current vacancy will offer an opportunity to work in one of the EUSPA department to support legal and procurement activities such as preparation of procurements, contracts, grants and other agreements as well as protection of personal data and compliance with relevant legislation.

The position requires relocation to one of the sites of the Agency – either the headquarters in Prague (Czech Republic) or one of our centres in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Toulouse (France), Noordwijk (the Netherlands), and Torrejon de Ardoz and San Martin de la Vega (Spain).
