We are seeking a skilled AOCS Engineer to support the design, development, and verification of the Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) for space missions. The role involves tailoring existing architectures, confirming equipment selections, performing simulations, and ensuring subsystem compliance with mission requirements.
Location: Lisbon, Portugal
Main tasks and responsibilities envisaged in this position will include:
▪Analyze system and mission requirements impacting AOCS.
▪Define a functional breakdown of AOCS capabilities and constituent elements.
▪Define AOCS interfaces with other subsystems, focusing on payload end-to-end performance.
▪Establish and update technical specifications for AOCS units.
Design Tailoring
▪Review existing AOCS product architecture and identify necessary modifications.
▪Confirm AOCS equipment selection aligns with mission requirements.
▪Perform pointing budget analysis across mission modes.
▪Specify hardware and software interfaces between AOCS and other subsystems.
▪Conduct simulations to validate AOCS performance.
Development & Verification
▪Coordinate with other flight segment teams to maintain alignment with the Flight Segment Baseline.
▪Autocode AOCS models from Matlab/Simulink to ANSI C.
▪Perform MIL/SIL/PIL equivalence testing and support software integration.
▪Support AOCS testing on the Avionics Test Bench (ATB).
Education:
▪Preferred: Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
Professional/Technical Experience:
▪Proven experience in ADCS design, simulation, and verification.
▪Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink and C programming.
▪Familiarity with space mission standards (ECSS).
▪Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Desired:
▪Experience in the design of AOCS for High Precision Earth Observation.
▪Experience in the design of AOCS for rendezvous and in-orbit servicing.
▪Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
