Engagement Intern [f/m/x] - Full-time (40 hours/week)

The European Space Policy Institute (ESPI), the leading European think-tank on space, is looking to employ an Engagement Intern at the premises of the Institute in Vienna (on-site), starting in October 2026.  

About the role

Space is undergoing a transformative change in market dynamics, technology developments, and policy implications. Engagement activities enable ESPI to achieve its mission and strengthen its position and reputation with more impactful outreach towards decision-makers and other target communities. Next to working with stakeholders in the space sector, ESPI also puts a major focus on developing the impact of space on other policy domains and sectors of economy.  

This position is a part of ESPI’s Engagement team, strengthening ESPI’s impact on various audiences and aiming to further develop ESPI’s role in advising and promoting European space policy globally, in line with the ESPI2040 vision.

you will be primarily tasked with supporting and assisting the following activities: 

  • ESPI’s European and International engagement initiatives, e.g. partner relations, networking activities or outreach;
  • Events - conferences, workshops, roundtables, receptions, etc.
  • ESPI’s education portfolio and activities
  • Activities of the Director’s Office
  • ESPI’s standing engagement platforms, such as VSD, EISC or NEST
  • Actions related to ESPI’s communication activities and media relations
  • Production of printed materials & merchandise from external vendors and 
    suppliers.

Qualifications

  • a university degree that relates to the Institute’s work and mission;
  • excellent organisational and representation skills, coupled with inter-cultural competence and self-starting mindset;  
  • impact-oriented thinking, stress-resistant attitude and attention to detail;
  • flexibility and adaptability to changing situations, with ability to multi-task;
  • excellent command of English, written and oral;
  • the following qualifications would be considered as an asset: knowledge of 
    the space sector, proficiency with digital communication tools and proficiency 
    in German.

The position is full-time (40 hours/week) with flexible working conditions, for a limited 
period of 6 months. The advertised salary for this position is € 1,561 gross per month 
(paid 14 times a year and exempt from tax).  

An additional bonus payment is subject to the Management’s decision and the 
Institute’s overall performance.
