ABOUT THE ROLE:
EARSC is seeking a Project Officer to support its mission of promoting the European Earth Observation Services Industry across multiple market sectors. Based in Brussels, the Project Officer will work closely with the Secretary General and other team members on EARSC Secretariat activities and ESA/EU-funded projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project implementation: Design and implement actions to deliver EU-funded projects across the whole project lifecycle. Most projects focus on using Earth Observation solutions for environmental monitoring and compliance.
User engagement: Engage with user communities and stakeholders to support user uptake and capacity-building activities.
Market Development: Collaborate with the Market Development Officer to strengthen links with organisations representing market sectors relevant to EARSC members (e.g., agriculture, energy, marine, etc.).
Event Organisation: Support the organisation of conferences and seminars (hybrid) and other stakeholder meetings.
Support to Communication: Collaborate with the Communications Officer to enhance EARSC’s outreach and dissemination activities.
Representation: Represent EARSC at industry fora and events organised by stakeholders.
PROFILE:
Essential:
3-5 years of experience in Research and Innovation projects or User Uptake of EO data or services;
Experience in exploitation and market adoption of innovative (EO-based or other digital) solutions/services;
Demonstrated project implementation experience (especially linked to Horizon Europe or other EU-funded projects);
A background in economics or business is highly desirable;
Excellent written and spoken English (C2 level);
Ability to adapt between leading tasks autonomously and collaborating effectively within international, hybrid team environments;
Experience in organising conferences and seminars (hybrid and in-person).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
Proactive approach with the ability to anticipate actions and support teammates;
Knowledge of at least one user community (e.g., agriculture, environmental monitoring, security, etc.)
Desirable:
Experience in outreach and community engagement, particularly related to agriculture, carbon, coastal, ecosystem, forest, soil, waste dumping, and environmental monitoring-related topics.
Creative thinking skills.
Knowledge of additional languages.
Experience within the EU institutions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment Type: Consultancy contract or employee contract under Belgian law.
Location: Brussels, Belgium.
Salary: based on the experience and contract type
